The Light that Shineth in Darkness

When all seems hopeless, the light of Jesus Christ sustains us.

I woke up this morning feeling very down. I used to think this just meant I was on yet another cycle of depression, but life has taught me recently that there's always a reason behind the pain. So I began a conversation with my emotions.

"Why am I feeling so down today?" I asked myself.

Then I remembered.

I remembered how the night before I had read the words of an influential man justifying himself in leaving his wife and kids to seek out sexual relationships with other men.

I remembered how I had read about new school policies that seek to separate kids emotionally from their parents and indoctrinate them in the new sexual values of society.

I remembered how I have seen lies told about friends of mine.

I remembered that I felt voiceless.

And then I remembered Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is our King, our Redeemer. He is the light that shines in the darkness, that brings hope to a dismal world. His life and His teachings have brought me peace. They have brought me hope.

A few months ago I felt the arms of my Heavenly Mother around me. She told me how much she loves me, how much she is grateful for me. And then she said "Have faith in the future."

So this morning I made a choice. I chose to remember Jesus Christ. His promises. His truth. His Gospel - the Good News. The truth that God loves all his children and weeps over them when they are in pain or they sin. The truth that God has taught and continues to teach anyone who will listen how they can return.

And then hope was restored to me again. I chose to have faith, to trust, to love. To move forward.

May God grant that all his children feel His peace, find His hope, return home to him if they are willing to put their lives in His hands.

I know He lives.

He is my strength. He is my song. He is the light that shineth in darkness.

"And it came to pass that the God of heaven looked upon the residue of the people, and he wept; and Enoch bore record of it" – Moses 7:28
